Meet Jerry Cooley
Jerry Cooley Jr. is a Human Resources leader, consultant, speaker, and youth mentor with more than 10 years of progressive HR and leadership experience. Throughout his career, Jerry has worked across complex organizations in roles spanning employee relations, workplace investigations, HR compliance, talent acquisition, performance management, leadership development, organizational strategy, and employee engagement.
Jerry began his professional journey with UPS, where he advanced from a package handler into increasingly responsible leadership and Human Resources positions, eventually serving as a full-time HR Supervisor. He later continued his HR career with UPMC as an HR Consultant before advancing into HR Director-level leadership. These experiences gave him the opportunity to work alongside employees and leaders at every level of an organization and helped shape his belief that strong organizations are built by developing people, creating accountability, and leading with integrity.
That belief became the foundation for Cooley Compliance LLC.
Jerry founded Cooley Compliance with a vision that extends beyond traditional HR consulting. The company was created to make an impact through three core areas: HR Solutions, Youth Mentorship & Development, and Public Speaking & Leadership.
Through HR Solutions, Jerry partners with organizations to strengthen their people practices, improve compliance, develop effective policies and processes, and navigate challenging employee and workplace matters. His approach is centered on helping organizations establish strong foundations while creating workplaces where both leaders and employees can succeed.
Through Youth Mentorship & Development, Jerry uses lessons from his own journey in athletics, education, leadership, family, and professional life to help young people develop confidence, character, discipline, professionalism, and the skills necessary to succeed beyond the classroom.
Jerry’s commitment to developing young people also extends into athletics, where he brings eight years of basketball coaching experience—including two years at the middle school level and six years at the JV/Varsity level. Through coaching, Jerry has worked directly with young athletes during critical stages of their personal development, helping them understand the importance of discipline, accountability, teamwork, confidence, communication, and character. His experience has shown him firsthand the lasting influence that coaches, mentors, educators, and positive role models can have on a young person’s future. Jerry believes that leadership is not simply a title—it is demonstrated through your choices, preparation, accountability, character, and the way you impact the people around you.
Through Public Speaking & Leadership, Jerry brings his professional experience, personal journey, and years of leadership and coaching together to deliver engaging messages designed to challenge, encourage, and equip students, professionals, teams, and organizations to become stronger leaders. His speaking approach is grounded in real-world experiences and practical lessons that audiences can carry with them long after the presentation ends.
